Kristina Balsano has been named the winner of the first annual Lou Antonucci Jr. college scholarship award ! The $1,000 prize will aid her in achieving her educational goals in the St. John Fisher nursing program. Kristina will also be playing softball for St. John Fisher College - GO CARDINALS ! 

From all of us here at the Hurricane organization, we congratulate Kristina and wish her the best of luck in her bright future! 

Lou Antonucci Jr. is one of the founding board members of The Long Island Hurricanes and remains on the board of directors as a member at large. Lou's tireless devotion to the LI Hurricanes mission of blending a family organization along with training and guidance for the future collegiate athlete has culminated in what you see on our site and on the fields we play on today.

Lou has been a strong advocate for helping the less fortunate players in our organization, he has always been there to lend a hand or figure out a way that a deserving player gain a spot on a team through fundraising and sponsorship. His efforts behind the scenes have allowed our organization to grow and better serve our players and their families in attaining their scholar athlete goals. During his 8 year tenure with the Hurricanes he has coached and watched his daughter Liz grow from a 12U player to the scholar athlete she has become today attending Widner University in PA this fall playing on the university's softball team.

It is for his dedication to the LI Hurricanes cause, and passion for the sport, that we are proud to announce the creation of the

Lou Antonucci Jr. Scholar Athlete Award
